1-Vieux-Lyon, Cour du Palais épiscopal  Saint-Jean/Oratoire du Diocèse Catholique de Lyon :

David DECAMP EXHIBITION : CHEMIN DE CROIX SANS CROIX
Courtesy Galerie La Forest Divonne (Paris-Bruxelles)

14 canvas and a rosace displayed in the two large windows of the Catholic Diocese of Lyon and visible from outside.
A self-taught artist (born in 1970), close to Art Brut, David Décamp uses materials that often have an autobiographical value: wood, bone, lead, like felt or grease in Beuys’ work.
For the work shown here, his material changes using concrete as an allegory of man’s ever-growing encroachment on his natural environment. His sculptures are also metaphors for the contemporary world. It is for him to “show nature in the process of dying. Concerning the exhibition in the Vieux-Lyon in Resonance of the Lyon Biennale 2022 of Contemporary Art, the choice of the work “Chemin de croix sans croix” (2021) is particularly appropriate: a series of fourteen bas-reliefs realized in concrete (40x30x10cm) symbolizing the 14 stations of Christ is exposed, a kind of “chemin de croix, sans croix”, “where the figure of Christ, mixed with the tangled branches, embodies the contemporary man threatened by his own destruction of the nature.
Accompanying the whole and symbolizing the crown of thorns with Christ in its center, a rose window entitled “The Flaming”, also made of concrete with moldings of birds and branches, completes this work.

2-Vieux-Lyon, Montée des Chazeaux :

Creation of an ephemeral ground fresco  by BLEG, Lyon young artist stage, omart

His automatic drawing is guided by the symbolic and graphic vocabulary he has developed, and he presents his creations as «visual poems» that the public can then try to decipher. The creation proposed in the Montée des Chazeaux is the fruit of a thinking  on the site, its history and its constraints. The first constraint is the existence of the Eltono’s fresco on floor (2019). Instead of being a barrier, this is the first guide that will allow to compose on the ground, since after ironing and light thickening of the colored lines of the existing work, this structure will compose the skeleton of the fresco. The existing lines will then be assembled to Bleg’s graphics, connecting the different representations of human characters, falling down the slope concrete glacis, flowing like water in rainy weather. The idea is also here to make a link with the steps that goes up to this site, very passing. By depicting this crowd of human characters falling down this slope concrete glacis, we come to symbolically oppose the force deployed by the pedestrians who climb the steps. The final result is a kind of graphic drape of white lines on a grey and heterogeneous concrete, integrating both the site and its hydraulic nature, as well as the traces of the pre-existing ephemeral  fresco.

3-Vieux-Lyon, Montée du Garillan :
Ephemeral  wall frescoes creation by Gaspard MARIOTTE, Lyon young artist stage, omart

After observing the place, I found it interesting to dress the walls, in order to create a story that accompanies the public on these steps, up and down. For this I propose six elements on both sides of the climb, representing plants and characters, on a human scale. They are all united by the coloured line in shades of blue, both subtle and contrasting with the yellow/orange appearance of the walls. The objective of this punctual artistic dressing is to give a life impulse to the steps, especially thanks to a harmony of painted colors.  The actions of the characters are fleeting moments: a pause of a woman, sitting during the climb, the instant taking of a photo by a visitor, the passage of a cat on a ledge. This is an image, captured at a specific time, that will soon no longer exist.
The technique used will be paper collage, both effective and allowing to make disappear the creations, after the Biennial, because we are in a district classified as a world heritage site.
The wall frescoes concern the dwellings n° 1 bis, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9 of the upper part of the Montée du Garillan,  leading to the 24 chemin Saint-Barthélémy

Nawelle AÏNECHE Exhibition
Artworks created using magnetic tapes and silk threads.

Exhibition from Septembre 23 to Octobre 16, 2022 at Cour des loges

Nawelle Aïnèche (born in 1990) is a transdisciplinary artist trained in stage costume in Lyon, then in weaving. Her work focuses on the body, its metamorphoses and mechanisms. She was part of the first edition of Création-en-cours of the Ateliers Médicis where she developed a project around the magnetic tape of video cassette.
Her work has been exhibited at the Moscow Historical Museum in Russia, the Tank Museum in China and the Grand Palais in Paris. With the support of the Ateliers Médicis, she joined the Collection of the French Institute in 2019 and travel to China, to Canton and Chengdu.
In 2021, she is in residence at MacLyon, the Factatory and the Ateliers Médicis (TRANSAT) for her project “ENTRE”. She also leaves for a discovery residency at the Villa Médicis.
In 2022, she created for her residency at Les Subsistances de Lyon, “ENTRE”, a sculpture activation in the public space that experiments with “ma”, a Japanese notion that defines emptiness as a material. She will soon exhibit in Roubaix, Chambéry and Migennes in 2023.
She is represented by the Lyon gallery Françoise Besson :  https://www.francoisebesson.com/

The artworks exhibited at the Cour des Loges are mainly: “Parchemin”, “Déraisonnable”, “A défaut du pardon, laisser venir l’oubli”, “les Misérables”, and “Enregistrement 1960”, works created from magnetic tapes and silk threads. See her web site:  https://nawelleaineche.com/textile/

5-Vieux-Lyon, Têtedoie :
Barbara CARNEVALE exhibition : « Trame du silence »

Born in 1984, Barbara Carnevale lives and works in the Lyon region. She creates sensitive forms and devices. Reassembling threads and pursuing intimate obsessions, she approaches volume and movement in a simultaneous way. The search for a fundamental frequency emitted by the perceptive forms questions her. Her research stages, in view and in memory, projects linking a research of forms and its articulation with the actor and perceiver body. The story of this progress, the resonance of the objects emitted and their dissemination in physical, cognitive and psychic spaces lets guess by superposition the existence and the persistence of residual contours, drawing in their turn new forms that she seizes in a kind of indefinite infinity. In search of purity and silence to find what she cannot seek, she struggles with the material, the words and her “artistic” posture. In a formal way, she develops a research axis on the memory of the image, the perception of space and experience. She is interested in the prospective plastic attempts, linked to the conservation of this experience, by the collection and the restitution of the memetic ruins. She connects this to questions of harmony of forms.

6-Vieux-Lyon, Le Bavard :
Xiaojun SONG and Claire-Georgina DAUDIN exhibition

Xiaojun Song, visual artist born in 1983 in Wuhan. She graduated from the Hubei School of Fine Arts in 2006 (Wuhan, China) and from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Nancy in 2012 (DNSEP).
Black and white, full and empty, visible and invisible. Her work focuses on a constant research on their relationships and compositions. The use of different modes and themes of representation allows her to exhibit a wide range of emotions that can all relate to the theme of the Body and Nature. According to Laozi, “the Way is the path to Virtue. As an object the Way is absolutely vague and indefinite, but in this indeterminacy it possesses a certain form and reality” (Tao Tö King “The Book of the Way and Virtue”, chap. 21). The existing and the non-existent thus coexist permanently in her work in an infinite dialectic.

By crossing layers of materials and fragments of stories, the work of Claire Georgina Daudin explores the memory of territories. It reveals the layers of history that make it up and show moments embodied in the material. Architecture and its avatars (building sites, wastelands, ruins, conglomerates) serve as a motif to make visible the states of landscapes in mutation.
His works are deployed in corpus, under various forms. They develop in hollow: the devices of creation often aim at accompanying an already present phenomenon that it would be a question of revealing according to processes inspired by photography or archaeology. The gestures come from the withdrawal: to erase, to scrape, to gum, to mould, to stamp. The surface is treated as a thickness from which memories can emerge.
In her latest works, she uses cyanotype to give materiality to the shadow. Her large formats on paper capture the ephemeral drawing produced by a building with a cut-out silhouette. The images created recompose sets of abstract, monumental and vibrant forms.

Recouvrements/Overlays 2022 :

Series of acetone prints of printed photographs, 65 x 50 cm and 30 x 250 cm
The Alliance factory in Pont-Salomon dates back to 1850. Its elegant red brick architecture housed a scythe and sickle factory. It is now abandoned.
I explored the place and recorded through photography what strikes the eye: the shapes of the buildings, the textures of the walls, the patterns of the shadows…
I composed prints from several photos. By overlapping, the layers of details combine images that evoke memories or impressions of the place.
The torn and scraped appearance of the forms, whose texture ranges from pasty to fine grain, translates the lacks that such memories contain.

8-Vieux-Lyon, Grive
Clément MONTOLIO exhibition

Painter, Clément Montolio lives and works in Lyon.
The obvious Mysteries of Clément Montolio could appear as a paradox of the spirit. It is not so.  The mystery is here intellectualized in the painting, it is one with the work, it is in the work, it is the work. Clément Montolio frees himself from aesthetics so that the Mystery can be seen, mystery in the first sense borrowed from the Latin mysterium, that is to say which expresses the deep character, the inherent virtue of a thing. Clément Montolio frees himself from aesthetics as an examination of nature and beauty to bring us to the “true”. His work is part of the philosophical heritage of the Austrian Ludwig Wittgenstein, in his research on the notion of truth and on language, working on aesthetics as a cognitive stage allowing access to intuition and truth.
But the creation of the artist does not proceed from a theoretical construction; it is born from an impulse to the creation, from the stimulation of an intuition, from an entry in the matter.
He exhibits at the Grive restaurant principally his soldier serie, 2011.

Théophile STERN exhibition : Chevaux magiques ; cicatrices fossiles ; et bonne étoile

Born in 1990 in the Beaujolais region of France, Théophile Abram Balthazar Stern trained in metal structures and then entered the Beaux Arts de Paris in 2013 in Pascale Marthine Tayou’s studio.
Sometimes invoking the history of places as our collective memory, halfway between construction site and ruins, Christian and Muslim cultures, plastic and decorative arts, in a Gaudi spirit.
Bas-reliefs made from highly defined images of a non-stop news broadcast, ceramic bestiary representing political figures and other icons, etc..
So many archives of a present time with programmed obsolescence, made up of multiple strata and saturated with news of all kinds that Théophile Stern reinvents and reinvents in his experimental factory that does not fear the confrontation of eras and their artifacts.
Théophile Stern is currently part of the Collectif d’artistes of the Lyon-based association gamut.

Ninoufar BASIRI exhibition

Born in 1985 in Isfahan, Iran, Niloufar Basiri lives and works in Lyon. After studying architecture, she started painting before arriving in France where she graduated from the École Supérieure d’Art de Clermont Métropole in 2020.
She is currently a resident at “Grand Large”, an association for young creation in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: https://www.legrandlarge.org/les-artistes/niloufar-basiri
In her series of hand embroideries on Jouy canvas, Niloufar Basiri inlays elements of Persian miniature into typically French scenes where daily chores and country celebrations are mixed. She thus creates a bridge between two cultures which, at first, seem distant. In a metaphorical way, her work expresses the junction points between our cultures, what separates us, and the difficulty for a foreigner to integrate without denying her origins.

Hugo Bonnet-Massip is an illustrator and screen printer. Graduate of the Institut Supérieur des Arts deToulouse and of the École de Recherche Graphique in Brussels, he pursues his research on stellar imaginary. The poetic reverie from which space exploration in the 16th century is borrowed, by the nature of this science, allows Hugo Bonnet Massip to create worlds populated with otherworldly beings, and to study the relationship between known worlds and those to be imagined. Beyond his work as an illustrator, he makes video-documentaries and installations that intersect his interest not only in art but also in science.

15-Vieux-Lyon, Broderie Haute Couture Elisabeth Gasbarre Roulleau
An encounter between an artist and a craftswoman :
Stéphanie GERBAUD and Elisabeth GASBARRE ROULLEAU

Stéphanie Gerbaud is an artist whose work focuses on two materials, paper and clay, through which she proposes reflections on the notion of territory.
Maps and plans are the starting point of geographical possibilities that she explores. To confuse the habits of linear reading of a plan, to reveal an urban lace or the emptiness left by the disappearance of the private space, are so many tracks which enable her to probe the intimacy of the territory.
She proposes, with Elisabeth Gasbarre Roulleau, embroiderer, a textile approach of the plan and updates the possible fragility of the various networks which irrigate the heart of the Lyon city: rivers, streets, avenues… Stéphanie Gerbaud  is currently part of the Collectif d’artistes of the Lyon-based association gamut :
